Project Portfolio
Case Studies & Project Outcomes
A look at real asbestos and mold projects we've completed across Colorado and New Mexico — the conditions we found, the work we performed, and the documented outcomes.
1962 Denver Bungalow — Popcorn Ceiling Abatement
- Denver, CO
- 3 days
- Single-family residential
Before
Homeowners purchased a mid-century bungalow in Park Hill and planned a full interior remodel. Pre-renovation testing on the textured ceilings (commonly called popcorn) returned 4% chrysotile asbestos across the main level — about 1,400 sq ft.
The Challenge
The family needed the work completed before their contractor's framing crew started, and the home shared a wall configuration that required dust-tight containment to protect the rest of the renovation.
Services Provided
- Pre-renovation asbestos testing (PLM)
- Full-containment abatement
- HEPA-filtered negative air
- Air clearance testing (PCM)
- CDPHE-compliant disposal
Our Approach
- Built a 6-mil poly containment with two airlock decon chambers
- Established negative pressure with HEPA AFDs at 4 air changes/hour
- Wet-removed all popcorn texture and double-bagged ACM waste
- Performed visual inspection followed by third-party PCM clearance
Outcome
All clearance samples came back below the 0.01 f/cc regulatory limit on the first round. The home was released back to the GC two days ahead of schedule with a clean ceiling substrate ready for skim coat.
Albuquerque Slab Leak — Whole-Home Mold Remediation
- Albuquerque, NM
- 6 days
- Single-family residential
Before
A slow slab leak ran undetected for several months in a Northeast Heights home. By the time the homeowner noticed musty odors, visible Stachybotrys and Aspergillus growth had spread across roughly 600 sq ft of drywall, baseboards, and subflooring in three adjacent rooms.
The Challenge
The family included a child with asthma, so containment and air quality were the highest priority. The insurance carrier also required documented protocols and post-remediation verification.
Services Provided
- Mold inspection & moisture mapping
- Air and surface sampling
- IICRC S520 remediation
- Antimicrobial treatment
- Post-remediation verification (PRV)
Our Approach
- Isolated affected rooms with critical barriers and HEPA negative air
- Removed all porous materials 2 ft beyond visible growth
- HEPA-vacuumed and damp-wiped all semi-porous surfaces twice
- Treated framing with EPA-registered antimicrobial
- Coordinated with the third-party IEP for clearance sampling
Outcome
Post-remediation air samples came in below outdoor baseline. The home passed third-party clearance and the carrier approved the full claim. Family returned within a week with no recurrence at 12-month follow-up.
Colorado Springs Elementary — VAT Floor Tile Abatement
- Colorado Springs, CO
- 4 weekends
- K–6 public elementary school
Before
A school district scheduled a flooring refresh in three classroom wings totaling 8,200 sq ft. Bulk testing confirmed asbestos-containing 9x9 vinyl floor tile and black mastic throughout the original 1970s slabs.
The Challenge
Work could only happen on weekends and over winter break to avoid disrupting students. Every wing had to be fully released and re-occupiable by Monday morning.
Services Provided
- Bulk sampling & project design
- Phased weekend abatement
- Mastic removal & encapsulation
- Air monitoring (daily)
- CDPHE notification & manifesting
Our Approach
- Filed CDPHE notification and coordinated with district facilities
- Sectioned each wing into containments completed in 48-hour windows
- Used infrared tile lifters to minimize debris generation
- Encapsulated residual mastic with approved sealant after PCM clearance
Outcome
All four phases passed clearance the first weekend they were scheduled. Zero classroom days lost, project came in 6% under the district's bid budget, and the new flooring contractor started on time each Monday.
Santa Fe Adobe — Vermiculite Attic Insulation Removal
- Santa Fe, NM
- 2 days
- Historic adobe residence
Before
A 1940s adobe near Canyon Road had original vermiculite insulation in the attic. Sampling confirmed tremolite asbestos contamination consistent with Libby-source vermiculite, covering roughly 900 sq ft at 4–6 inches deep.
The Challenge
The historic vigas and latillas could not be damaged, and the home had limited attic access through a single 22-inch hatch. The owner also wanted the attic re-insulated immediately after clearance.
Services Provided
- Asbestos bulk testing
- HEPA-vacuum vermiculite removal
- NMED notification
- Visual + air clearance
- New blown-in insulation install
Our Approach
- Built containment around the attic hatch with decon and bag-out station
- Used industrial HEPA vac with rigid hose to remove vermiculite without disturbing wood members
- Triple-bagged and manifested all ACM waste under NMED protocol
- Coordinated insulation contractor to begin install same day as clearance
Outcome
Zero damage to historic woodwork. Air clearance passed first round and new R-49 blown-in cellulose was installed the same afternoon. Owner reported a noticeable reduction in heating costs the following winter.
Pueblo Warehouse — Pre-Demolition Survey & Abatement
- Pueblo, CO
- 3 weeks
- 42,000 sq ft industrial warehouse
Before
A developer purchased a 1958 warehouse for a mixed-use redevelopment and needed a full pre-demolition asbestos survey before structural demo. Suspect materials included pipe insulation, transite panels, roofing, and floor tile.
The Challenge
The demolition contractor was already mobilized and every day of delay carried significant standby costs. Multiple ACM types required different abatement methods sequenced around utility shutoffs.
Services Provided
- Pre-demolition AHERA-style survey
- Pipe insulation glove-bag abatement
- Transite panel removal
- Floor tile & mastic abatement
- Roofing ACM removal & manifesting
Our Approach
- Completed full survey and lab turnaround in under 5 business days
- Sequenced abatement by trade so demo crews could start interior work in week 2
- Used glove-bag method on 1,800 LF of pipe insulation to avoid full containment
- Coordinated 14 manifested loads to a CDPHE-approved disposal facility
Outcome
Demolition started on the original target date. All abatement was completed within the developer's pre-construction window with zero stop-work orders or notices of violation.
Durango Cabin — Post-Flood Mold Remediation
- Durango, CO
- 5 days
- Mountain vacation cabin
Before
Spring snowmelt overwhelmed a failed sump pump in a vacation cabin and the basement sat with 2–3 inches of standing water for an estimated 10 days before discovery. Mold growth covered framing, subfloor, and stored belongings across roughly 1,100 sq ft.
The Challenge
The owners lived 6 hours away and needed turnkey coordination — water extraction, demo, drying, remediation, and contents handling — without onsite supervision.
Services Provided
- Emergency water extraction
- Structural drying with desiccant dehumidifiers
- Selective demo of porous materials
- IICRC S520 remediation
- Contents inventory & disposal
Our Approach
- Mobilized crew within 24 hours of the call
- Documented every step with daily photo reports for the absent owners
- Removed and properly disposed of saturated drywall, insulation, and subfloor
- Maintained drying logs until moisture content was below 16% in all framing
Outcome
Cabin was fully dried and remediated in 5 days. Third-party clearance passed first round and the rebuild contractor was able to start the following Monday. Owners signed off remotely via the daily report package.
